Lorne P-12 College success in the Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships

Six students from Lorne P-12 College competed in the Victorian Interschools Snowsports Championships at Mt Buller on Monday 20 – 22nd August.

The Division 5 Snowboard team of Sunny Lane, Dusty Lane and Levi Crosbie had some exceptional results and ultimately won outright both the Boardercross and Giant Slalom Team events against a very competitive field from across Victoria. Both trophies are now adorning the newly renovated foyer at the College.

Congratulations to the Snowboard team and to all of our competitors from Lorne P-12 College who participated in the event: from Year 3 and 4: Darcy Travers, Sunny Lane, Levi Crosbie and Noah Russell and from Year 1 and 2: Kai Lassila and Dusty Lane.

Thank you to sports coordinator Amy Lane for organising the team, and parents for their support with supervision and transport. Thank you to Lydia Lassila for making the family house available for team accommodation.

The team qualified for the Australian Snowsports Championships, which took place in Perisher Valley NSW last week. Congratulations to Levi Crosbie who placed 43rd in boardercross and 34th in giant slalom at this event. Unfortunately, having travelled to Perisher, illness prevented Sunny Lane and Dusty Lane from competing in the team event and we will have to set our sights on the 2019 Australian Championships!
